Overview

This project was unusual for us in that it was done over four or five phases, over the course of about five years, we could only access this restaurant on Sundays,

The first phase was relatively conservitive , using muted greens inspired by the unique ceramic cladding to the exterior of this former tramstop on the Southside of Glasgow,

The reaction from the restaurants loyal customer was so positive that the client developed the confidence to go further with a more detailed ornate style,

We then added 23ct gold leaf elements and over time added deep greens, reds and different patterns of ‘Variegated leaf’ which is a mettalic leaf with different patterns and colours actually integral to the metal.

All the artwork was drawn out by hand in chalk from a scaffolding tower and handpainted and gilded in sections.

What We Did

Richly gilded organic ceiling mural (approx 8m x 10m)inspired by art nouvea and celtic knotworks.

“Our restaurant ceiling has become a real talking point with customers, who are fascinated by how beautiful it is. Frank added a bit more detail to it every year and now it’s complete, it looks amazing. I’ve known Frank for over 15 years and he’s an absolutely great guy, always wanting to give more and more to his work, and do things even better.”
